I was traveling from KC to Estes Park when I began to have an eye flare. I have suffered from iritis and uveitis in the past due to an autoimmune condition. My ophthalmologist recommended that I see an ophthalmologist in CO urgently. With it being almost 3pm on a Friday I was extremely nervous that I would be unable to see a specialist since I was not a patient. I called multiple ophthalmologists in Boulder and I was so thankful the front desk (I cannot remember her name) was able to get me in with Dr. Long. Dr. Long was very thorough and provided me with medication and the number of the on call doctor in case I had further issues over the weekend (thankfully I didn't). I'm so thankful they were able to see me on such short notice and ease my anxiety while traveling from out of town. Thank you to Dr. Long and the rest of the staff!
Really wonderful experience receiving my ICL - from the front desk to the consultation and procedure - everyone I dealt with was professional, highly knowledgeable, and ready to answer any and all of my questions. I'll preface this by saying I am not a fan of eye stuff at all - contacts, eye drops, nope. Hence, I've been wearing glasses for distance and driving for 15 long years. No more! My PRK procedure with Dr. Beyer was just over one month ago and I could not be happier with the results! Dr. Beyer and the staff at Boulder Eyes answered each of my many questions and were completely understanding and reassuring of my anxiety. The procedure itself was virtually painless and so quick! I've had teeth cleanings that were 10 times more uncomfortable. My vision fluctuated for about three weeks while healing, as expected, but now I am seeing far better than I ever did with my glasses. Honestly the hardest part of the entire process was reading through the consent forms. As an avid hiker and camper, laser vision correction has been nothing short of life changing. From start to finish my experience at Boulder eyes was superb! I at all times felt informed and well taken care of all of my questions were answered and bitterness of the evaluation was reassuring. The anxiousness preceding the surgery slowly built until I sat in the chair at which point the most incredible transient alterations to my visual perception began unfolding before me. An event horizon is the closest thing I can relate it to, a black circle completely devoid of light resting dead center cupped by a fiery burning bright light visible only in a tiny perfect ring around the blackness shortly after this visual takes place a green pulsating twisting winding beam of light moves towards your eye and enters your head you don't feel it per se you know that it's definitely continuing to move into your eyeball after you sit up vision is restored at least in my case so much so that the very next day I was registering at 20/15. They say that after the day of surgery it can expect a total of about a month of Total recovery and improvement which is a good thing except when you think about the fact that I had perfect vision the day after and if I still have 29 or so days of improvement left where do I end up? Am I going to be able to see through objects, or see the future, or perhaps fire kinetic blasts of energy and light out of my eyes?!?! I didn't sign up for that when I got the surgery, I'm not saying that I'm not looking forward to it I'm just saying I'm not really prepared to assemble a team which it seems to be the only rational decision. I mean I don't even know a single paralyzed white British bald guy much less one that has incredible psychic and telekinetic abilities and enough money to get us a location for a school. I'm sure I'll figure it out but there should be a warning about cases like mine.

I had PRK done here in September and wanted to wait until my vision had fully recovered to post a review. I chose PRK because of preference, my corneas are plenty thick for LASIK but I didn't like the idea of a flap. My correction was basically purely astigmatism, around -2.5 in each eye. Dr Beyer did an awesome job with the surgery. I had custom PRK done and it was all so quick on the surgery day. I was a little nervous but the Valium helps a ton, and Dr Beyer is so calm and confident you really feel like he's done this a thousand times, which he has. The next day I came in and was seeing 20/20 in both eyes! Of course the recovery was tough, having blurry vision for the next few days wasn't the best, but by the end of the week I could see pretty well. After two weeks I was basically back to seeing as well as I could with contacts, probably better. My only complaint was some shadowing in my left eye... I was really concerned about this at first but after 6 months this has completely dissipated. I do have a bit of dryness in the mornings, but I decided not to do the punctal plugs which I think would help - I just didn't like the idea of them. Overall it's way better to wake up with a bit of dryness and put in some eye drops than to have to struggle to find glasses every morning. I can see better than I ever saw with contacts or glasses, which is amazing! It's hard to describe, but everything looked a bit skewed due to my astigmatism with glasses and contacts since it's an imperfect correction (steps of 0.25 instead of every point on your eye corrected precisely). Now that I've had custom PRK I can see how everything actually looks, and it has kind of blown me away! Highly recommend PRK here, I love how well I can see now and it's amazing to not have to rely on contacts or glasses anymore.

Recently had Lasik done by Dr. Beyer. Office staff was nice and professional. Dr. Beyer instilled a sense of confidence and made me feel at ease answer all and any questions I had. Procedure was short and painless (just a little uncomfortable getting things shoved around your eye). Make sure you get your prescriptions filled early. They do a lot of surgeries and if you wait until the last minute the Walgreens may not have any in stock and most pharmacies don't stock these drops. Follow the directions and use the shields they give you and you will be fine.
My PRK procedure had an entirely painless recovery with minimal recovery time and I've had no complications. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, from booking the initial consultation to my pre and post-op exams. If you're hesitant about laser correction surgery, I highly recommend taking the leap and booking with Dr. Beyer and Boulder Eyes!
I am four days out from my custom Lasik procedure and I am very pleased with the results thus far. I had a minor complication the day after surgery but Dr. Beyer was able to correct it with no discomfort. He even made sure to reach out on Christmas Day to ensure that I was doing okay with correction. I truly appreciated the care and concern. I have full confidence that I will continue to be well cared for through this process. The office staff is very knowledgeable and kind and I will definitely be recommending this facility to others. They provide detailed information and are excellent with making you feel at ease and answering any questions you have. I definitely felt like my concerns mattered. And of all the shopping around I did, I found that BoulderEyes had the best price and offered a discount due to the insurance coverage I had (even though insurance did not cover the procedure).

I went to BoulderEyes to have the LASIK vision correction surgery. I cannot express how happy I am with the care that I received. I enjoyed an excellent experience with Boulder Eyes and I am very pleased with my PRK procedure and the outcome of the surgery. The only regret I have is not having it done sooner. Initially, when Dr. Beyer and I met, we discussed my current vision, his process, recovery, timelines, and my expectations. We went into detail about Lasik vs PRK and we decided that PRK was the right fit for my situation. Once I agreed to move forward with the surgery his office staff scheduled my procedure for a couple of weeks out. I was then given a full consultation on what happens next as well as being given all the information we discussed in a folder for me to take home that entailed step-by-step instructions for preparation and aftercare. This was an excellent resource because I was able to spend some time reading over details and sharing the information with my husband. The Doctor performing the surgery, setting the dials accurately and directing the laser is the most important aspect of the entire process. On the day of surgery I was comfortable and confident in Dr. Beyer’s process and his ability to achieve my desired result. The laser surgery was painless, most likely because of the eye drop anesthesia. It happened very quickly and I was up and looking around within minutes, I could immediately see my vision improvement. I understood with PRK it takes 30 days or so to fully heal and see the results and yet I was surprised at how clear I was seeing already. Overall, Dr. Beyer has excellent bedside manner and has created a comfortable and informative experience with an exceptional team. I have already recommended them to my friends and family. Bears! Great reason why I finally committed to researching and choosing eye treatment. I had left my tent over the summer near dawn, I looked over (sans glasses or contacts) and wonder is that… A bush? No it’s moving.. maybe a moose? Maybe a bear?? I ran back into my tent and cuddled in hoping it wasn’t a predator. Two days later my boyfriend checked his trail cam and sure enough within 30 yards of our tent was a bear! Luckily we didn’t have a negative encounter but it was my final push! While it’s a great story I’m going to repeat what everyone told me, “you’ll wish you’d done it sooner!”. I actually had tons of reasons to have lasik/PRK but more excuses not to. Stop waiting! Dr.Beyer’s office took me through all the details, I had a great treatment! After all the research and calling around, because let’s face it it’s my eyeballs I am going to be picky, I found his office to be the most professional, straightforward and their schedules worked for mine. There were plenty of extra Covid precautions to make me feel comfortable, they were welcoming and answered all of my questions. I think I’m tough but I was nervous and I really don’t think it could go any smoother than my treatment (I did PRK on 10-22-2020) and I have great sight a week later, although a little more (as expected) healing to do. I can’t wait to identify the bears at dawn next summer ! 😉

I had PRK less than a month ago and I’ve seen a major improvement in my vision. I developed a rare complication which I am still treating with dilating drops. The complication is called accommodative spasm, which means a body of muscles called the ciliary body interior to the eye was constricted and caused my interior lens to bulge, thus completely countering the effects of reshaping my cornea. Dilating drops are a muscle relaxer and this is helping to break the spasm. My vision is better than 20/40 and I’m seeing improvements every day. Dr Beyer helped me understand what was happening and gave me access to all the data on my eyes, my prescription and the correction performed by the laser. He took my questions seriously, treated me with respect and that made all the difference. If you are considering laser vision correction, know that it is a serious undertaking and it may cause you more stress than you anticipated. Dr Beyer and the team at Boulder Eyes have been highly professional and helpful in my experience. I hold them in highest esteem and recommend their services to the utmost.

100% recommend going here if you are considering eye surgery. Every staff there from the front desk to the back rooms was very nice and empathetic. They are all very professional and comforting for people that go in on surgery day feeling slightly nervous like myself. Instead of sitting in a quiet room before surgery with no one but my thoughts, one of the staff stayed with me. This helped calm the nerves and I'm forever thankful to her! Dr Beyer is an amazing doctor and has been doing this for a very long time. My eyesight was 20/20 the morning after the surgery and it felt like such a miracle. Thank you all!
This was one of the best medical practices I have been to. The experience was always positive from the time I walked in the door through leaving. I really appreciated that during the consultation I was able to have questions answered and receive quality information about which procedure would be best for my situation versus listening to a high-pressure sales pitch. For all of the appointments, I never waited more than five minutes before being seen and I was always asked if there were any last questions prior to leaving out the door. Lastly, I had PRK surgery done and the entire process was well explained as far as potential risks, side effects, and the experiences of others (post-op through healing). After 20 years of wearing glasses it is amazing to have better than 20/20 vision.

Hope this review will be useful to those considering PRK or custom PRK with this office. I'll try to be thorough here, but also real about my experiences. First, I'm 1 month out from PRK (left eye, starting from -2.25) and custom PRK (right eye, starting from -2, with a dash of astigmatism). My vision is better than 20/20, coming in at 20/15 as of this morning, with a hint that the 20/10 line might be accessible after 2 more months of healing. 5 stars. Second, the procedure itself was a breeze. Drs. Beyer and Bannwarth were easy to work with, and answered all my questions, and treated me really well, even when my questions were strange, scared, or overly cautious. 5 stars. This group is really great. Now, a little #realtalk. The week after the procedure was, admittedly, annoying. I had to increase the fonts on my computer monitors at work, and despite being mostly back to functional after 3-4 days, it was really not until 10 days post-op that I wasn't thinking about or compensating for my eyes every few minutes. I was really optimistic that everything would be easy, but the second week was not my favorite. I didn't get the punctal plugs, and consider this to possibly be a mistake—I'm not sure. Basically, my eyes were fine during the day, but they got very dry at night during week 2 of recovery, and I ended up with a sleep mask, eye gel drops, and a humidifier to try to wake up less irritated. I also got a new set of the zero-rx contacts to sleep in, to keep things wet and protected. A month on, and this has become more mild, with no humidifier, contacts, or gel drops at night. But I don't quite yet just go to sleep and wake up thinking about whatever I was dreaming of—I wake up thinking about my eyes. Apparently this goes away after a couple more months. In terms of other functionality: I felt comfortable driving after 5 days. I felt comfortable driving at night after 7 days. I usually bike commute, and wore ski goggles like a big dork to keep dust out during the first week. My vision at night now is crisp, but at first there were blurry halos, which went away quickly. My computer monitor is back to my normal resolution, and reading books, etc, is no problem. Overall, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I think I would get the punctal plugs too, only to increase comfort during the first month. Nothing but positive things to say about the staff, Drs. Bannwarth and Beyer. Hope that the details here will be helpful! If you're on the fence, go for it. You're in good hands.

The staff was great. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Now 7 months after my lens replacement I am thrilled with both my near and far vision. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made and only have praise for the team at Boulder Eyes.
Fantastic experience overall! Came in with -450 in each eye, a slight astigmatism, and 500ish micron cornea. Boulder Eyes recommended PRK over Lasik and I was more than happy to follow that course! I had read some horror stories online of how painful PRK was, but honestly I just kept my eyes shut and listened to Audiobooks for 2 days. The pain really only lasted for 2 days and I would describe it as more of a light stinging than anything debilitating. I was back in the office and working by the following Tuesday, surgery was the Thursday before, and properly able to see by the following weekend. I just went in for my one month checkup and I am seeing 20/25ish in my left eye and 20/15 in my right eye. PRK is a bit different in that while you will have pretty good vision after a week or two it takes time for it to fully settle down. If my right eye is any indication I can fully expect to be able to see 20/15 out of both my eyes!

If I could give Boulder Eyes/Beyer LASIK 10 stars I would!! I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Beyer and his staff since 2006. They performed corneal transplants surgeries for both my eyes, several PRK corrective procedures on the transplanted corneas, and cataract surgery (due to steroid medication) on both my eyes. All these post transplant procedures/surgery (PRK and cataract) were to be expected post op care with corneal transplant surgery while in the process of healing and ultimately obtaining the best possible visual acuity outcome. My vision post transplant surgery/treatment ultimately resulted in 20/20 uncorrected vision in both eyes for many years. This outstanding result is exceptional among corneal transplant patients nationwide. Most transplant patients have experienced improved vision, however, they are told to expect to have to wear glasses or contacts post op to obtain optimal corrected 20/20 vision. Uncorrected 20/20 vision post op results are very rare. I credit Dr. Beyer and his competent staff of surgeons for my outstanding results and success. These are very skilled surgeons at Boulder Eyes. One afternoon while I was waiting in the lobby, a very well known recognizable Hollywood A list actor walked into the office (as a current patient) and chatted with one of the surgeons in the lobby. I recognized him right away as he was standing just two feet from me. He said he had just driven down from Aspen for his appointment.This is the caliber and earned reputation of the surgeons in this office, even a Hollywood A list actor knows of Dr. Beyer and is a patient of Boulder Eyes! I'm about 2 months post-op PRK and my vision is excellent.
I had PRK surgery in March and as of June I am seeing 20/10 vision! Everyone on the staff did a great job preparing me for the surgery, answering my questions, and explaining the recovery/healing process. I have new eyes! It's hard to believe that a year ago I was wearing contacts that were constantly dry or thick glasses. I highly recommend BoulderEyes. I was nervous so I did my research — they are by far the most experienced, popular and recommended for Lasik. My surgery was easy and the recovery was incredibly fast.
